TaiArctic
The Taiwan Arctic (TaiArctic) Research Station is located in Longyearbyen, Svalbard, as a research and logistical hub for our global scientific collaboration. Since Svalbard has one of the world's most rapidly transforming environments, TaiArcitc provides opportunities to conduct timely research that is necessary in the context of climate change.

Established in 2022 by Dr. Sławomir Jack Giletycz (current station director), the TaiArctic station has been an infrastructure for interdisciplinary research spanning the geological, geophysical, aerial, and oceanographic domains. Researchers have used the station during their field campaigns to collect various samples from the land, glacier surface, and the Arctic Ocean. These crucial data sets will enhance our understanding of the complex interplay between climate change and Arctic environments and will ultimately contribute to more accurate projections of sea-level rise, ocean currents, and shifts in biodiversity.

The TaiArctic station is actively engaged in international collaborations and seeks partnerships worldwide. We believe this approach will foster the exchange of knowledge, expertise, and resources, enriching the research quality and strengthening Taiwan's role as a contributor to Arctic research.
